If you enjoy listening to music and like to learn more about the musicians and composers who create it, Five Lines is for you. Here you’ll find my reviews of recent albums, operas and concerts, profiles of artists and short features about music.

I’m a New Zealand-based freelance music critic and commentator and have worked in music and the arts for many years as a broadcaster, writer, university lecturer and arts leader. I believe that critical writing is always important to the health of music as an art form. As well as Five Lines, I write articles about classical music for the NZ Listener.
